dont listen to the nay sayers. I dont know what the fuss about the service is?! I go to sekisui at least once a week and just went for the New Years buffet they had. They have some great original rolls one of my absolute favorite being the quagmire. Some people frown upon theses Americanized rolls but I rather enjoy the mix. They have very talented sushi chefs very capable of the best. The house cucumber roll I ordered the cucumber was sliced so thin I could see through it! Enough about the sushi. I've had various items from the regular menu and have only ever had a great time. Wednesday nights they have half price drink night which makes me want my two favorite things all the more (jk hah) but seriously not sure who these negative reviews are from but dont let them stop you from seeing for yourself!

The best sushi place in Chattanooga. Best sushi we have found in Chattanooga. We often order the chirashi and a dolphin roll, which gets you soup, salad, a nice variety of sashimi for about 30 bucks total. LOTS of other things to try, too. My wife and I have been to all of the other 'top' sushi restaurants in Chattanooga, and we keep coming back here year after year. There's outdoor seating overlooking downtown streets in the warmer months, and a few inside window seats give the same view. Staff has always been friendly, but not always sushi experts. Yoshi from Memphis does a great job with the sushi, btw.

The horrible taste is still in my mouth months later!. We visited Sekisui after purchasing the '25 dollar coupon' for ten dollars, on a night that was supposed to be a relaxing date evening between me and my boyfriend. I am a sushi fanatic, so I was very excited. Unfortunately, we were greeted with rude servers who took their time doing anything and evertyhing, even though the restaurant was deserted - there were only two other tables seated. I ordered a roll of sushi that was not fresh and tasted extremely fishy. I also ordered a chicken skewer that was tough dark meat with so much fat I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend ordered a lobster tail that came out on a whimpy piece of old lettuce. The meat of the lobster tail was dry and looked shrivelled. The lobster tasted even fishier than the sushi. In disguist, he ordered some steak that was equally as terrible. The server and sushi chef frequently stared at our table (probably because they knew how terrible our food was and wanted to see whether or not we would eat it lol) and we ended up not eating anything we ordered. I honestly want to gag every time i think about biting into that fishy lobster. Please spare yourselves a huge pocketfull of money and pain and DO NOT visit this horrible restaurant!

Do not waste your time or money.. Bad food, worse service. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I cannot figure out why people go there. Anyone who tells me they like this place looses all credibility in matters of cuisine to me.

To be avoided like the Plague!. My wife and I went for lunch, and this was the worst excuse for a sushi restaurant that I have ever endured. The entire experience was third rate, at best! It was like an amatuer effort at Japanese dining! Sorry, but the best that Sekisui has to offer Chattanooga, is to turn off the lights and close the doors...Permanently!

The Horrible Service. They do not have the concept of lunch hour It took 2 hours to finish lunch

The restaurant is filled with unprofessional workers. They have only 4 forks for 9 people. One of my co-workers started eating only rice with a chopstick for a long time because the main food came out after 20 to 30 minutes went by. I also engaged in a long argument with our waiter because he kept saying that he gave us the "Sesame Chicken" that we never saw at all. The soups were ready only when the bills came. Many of my friends showed an interest in this restaurant because of the wide variety of cuisine available, but they also remarked that the taste was not good.

Never again!! Small plates, minced meat in sushi.. I was disappointed with both the service and quality of the food when my beau and I dined here for lunch.

Our server refused to allow time to peruse the menu- or offer any help in our selections. I had Teriyaki Salmon, 'minced meat' Spicy Tuna Roll and Miso soup. My Beau had Sesame Chicken, the same Spicy Tuna, and Miso soup. My Salmon was over cooked and dry. His Chicken wasnt anything but fatty dark meat pieces deep fried. When we couldn't get a refill on our drinks, Id had enough. If I were a walk out type of person, I would have ditched the check- it would have been easy with our phantom server.

In the end, we paid nearly $25 for a meal that didnt sustain either of us. I will never eat here again. If I want sub-par dining I will eat at Taco Bell.

Great Japanese Dining Experience. We decided to try Sekisui because of the favorable comments from 'vandygirl.' We went on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. The service was outstanding. We were impressed with the menu choices and very reasonable prices. Our meal was wonderful and reminded us of our days in Japan. At the next opportunity we also definitely plan to go back to Sekisui. About the only negative thing we have to say is that we were a little disappointed about the 'noise' some call music versus hearing typical Japanese style or easy listening music.

Every City Needs One. This place is amazing! We went on a Friday night but were seated immediately. The ambiance is modern yet gives you the "international" feeling with touches of Japanese style. The menu is FULL of choices for all tastes, vegetarians included! You can pick 4 small dishes or one large platter and you'll walk out with money still in your wallet. The staff is knowledgable and sweet, and the food is exquisite. You'll find all the regular Japanese dishes and tons of originals. The next time we're in Chattanooga, we're definitly going back!
