Just love the accommodations, the
staff, and the wonderful
waterfall pool and hot tub. The sounds of the pool reminds you of being in the country with a creek rambling through. It's peaceful, serene & relaxing.
This hotel is located downtown. It is an old 1909 train station. There are standard rooms in three wings behind the old lobby, which has the feel of a train station. There are also 48 rooms available in restored railroad cars. We didn't stay in these as we were only there for one night on our way home from Florida. The standard room was spacious and the beds were of good quality.
Our third visit to The Chattanooga Choo Choo and it did not dissapoint. The staff is always friendly and helpful, rooms are always clean and the location is good. The free trolley is very helpful in getting around town, and you get on right next door. Fun for kids.
This was a wonderful experience and will recommend it to many others. Very romantic get-away with many stores, historic sites and cafes to visit.
This is a charming venue...for children and adults alike. Stroll through the gardens, take a trolley ride or enjoy a dining experience in Victorian- embellished dining car. And if you know the song...it does make it much more fun. This historic venue is beautiful.
Staff was cordial and welcoming! Room was comfortable with new upgraded flat screen tvs! Parking was convenient! Food was nicely prepared and presented nicely on plate for breakfast meal!-One could order from menu or eat from buffet available!
I congratulate you on employees who demonstrate true Southern Hospitality. Vicki was our first encounter (and still our favorite); however, from the young man at the front desk, to the nice young woman who cleaned our rooms, to the gentleman with the golf cart who gave us a ride up to the main building (and thrilled our 4 year old grandson) - all were very pleasant and professional. They were"aware" of us. They were not just doing their job.
Gardens Restaurant review.
Okay, just so my review is clear: this is not a review of the main part of the hotel and its rooms, nor the other restaurants. In fact, I love the Station House restaurant and make it a point to go there each time I make my yearly trek to Chattanooga.
However, on a recent birthday trip up to Chattanooga, I stayed at another hotel but wanted a nice breakfast. My friends and I have always talked about eating at the Gardens Restaurant. I was flying solo this time and said, "I'm finally going to go there and do an informal review for our company newsletter."
Well, I'm sorry I ate breakfast there. I decided to forego the buffet and order the Choo Choo waffle with "fresh strawberries and whipped cream". I ordered a side of bacon (cost: $3.50), a cup of coffee, and a glass of milk. I got my coffee and a short glass of milk. The waitress asked if I wanted creamer for my coffee or if I planned to use the milk. I told her I needed creamer. I took a sip of the milk and it was sour; in fact, I had a ring inside my glass within a couple of minutes. (Later on, others who ordered a "glass" of milk received a glass about 3x the size of mine...).
About 30 minutes later, I received my waffle. She lifted the cover and here's what I found: a waffle with three plastic containers sitting physically on top of my waffle! Talk about unsanitary! They didn't bring the containers out on a separate dish as they should have. No, it was touching my waffle. So, what was in the three containers you ask? 1) syrup , 2) a small dab of pre-measured whipped cream -- which looked more like a dab of butter, and finally, 3) the strawberries. No, not the fresh strawberries the menu claimed but, instead, the stuff in the red gook gel they tend to use for jelly rolls! Did I mention that the waffle was cold, as were the two whole strips of bacon my waitress brought me after I reminded her (at that point I was ready to go to the buffet and get it myself!)?
I don't know how their lunch or "Prime Rib" buffet on Saturdays stack up. But one thing is for certain: if this is the type of unsanitary and low-quality service that this restaurant practices, someone should report them to the Board of Health. I will not be eating there again.
Kudos to you. We are writing to tell you about the extraordinary experience we had while staying at the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel this week. We checked in on Monday, August 25, staying in the area for an NSA softball tournament for our daughter. Our package rate came with breakfast buffet coupons for my husband and myself. Two of our children ate free all week, a huge help finacially, and a delicious start to the day. The staff in the dining area was hard working and friendly. rachel took care of the family all week and always asked about how Kellie was doing in the tournament. Your dining area manager is such a hard worker, constantly buzzing around sweeping floors, carrying dishes, and restocking items. Jeanette kept us stocked with clean, fresh towels all week. Even on days when we told her she didn't need to bother with our room, we would come back to empty trash cans, clean towels, and made beds. She was always so kind to us. When our keys repeatedly didn't work in the slot, Laith stopped by and worked on the lock. He even offered to go to the desk and get new cards for us since ours didn't work. He was very kind and respectful and offered to return if we had more problems. When we realized our reservation was only made through July 30, instead of the august 1 date we thought we had secured, we were a bit frantic. However, your front desk clerk, Sean, couldn't have been more helpful. Even though the hotel appeared to be booked, he told us he would speak to the manager and asked us to check in with him in the morning. When we did, he had arranged for us to remain in our room, at the same rate, for an additional night. What a relief! On our many trips to the pool, we saw grounds keepers and maintenance workers keeping the hotel clean and running smooth. We were always greeting kindly with a "good morning" or a smile. Little things like stocked(and re-stocked) ice bags, Choo Choo bucks, restaurants on the grounds, several pools, and darling stores added to our wonderful experience. the kids loved going to dinner "alone" in the Silver Diner and grabbing ice cream afterwards. The best part of our experience was the overall family-focused atmosphere. We truly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to coming back some time in the future. Whenever we hear people mention The Chattanooga Choo Choo, we tell them what a great experience we had. Kudos to you and your entire staff for a job well done.
Chattanooga Awesome, This Hotel Horrible!. Do not stay here if you are above the age of 17 and you want to actually sleep. I am staying in this hotel tonight and there are many large groups of teenagers staying in the hotel. They have been "meeting" in the hallway outside my paper thin door for the last 30 min and it is 9:30 at night. VERY LOUD!! I have called the front desk and nothing has been done. I tried to cal the front desk again but now the phone is not functioning, big surprise. The room is shabby and the shower curtain is covered with mildew. I will never stay in this hotel again and I suggest that no adult stay here either. The lobby can be misleading because it is really nice. Don't be fooled!! DO NOT STAY HERE! It is not a cheap hotel either. I could understand if I had spent 75 dollars but the room was 149.00 a night. I expect at least a clean, quiet room for that price.
